I’m Only Dreaming…

It’s been a while… Yadda, yadda, yadda.

Last night I had a dream. Nothing unusual about that. I dream every night. As do you. This one, though, decided to stay with me long after I’d awoke.

I was at a festival, I think. Music, comedy, I’m not sure. It was night and everything was bathed in fluorescent yellowy light. My pals and I were leaving one of the stages, making our way through the masses of people. Out of nowhere a hand grabbed mine and started pulling me through the throng. The grip was tight, inescapable, but not in the least bit painful. I felt almost weightless, bouncing off folk as we made our way out of the multitude. Eventually we stopped, just outside a building that reminded me a lot of my old uni halls of residence, and I finally got a good look at this whirlwind, this force of nature that had dragged me away from my friends.

It was a girl.

She was about my height and dressed almost completely in black. A little black dress, black tights, dark scuffed-up Doc Martens-type boots. She had messy shoulder-length black hair. Thick black eyeliner surrounded her big blue eyes. She was pale and her nose and cheeks were flecked with a tiny peppering of freckles. Her Angelina Jolie-esque lips were big and red.

And then she kissed me.

It seemed like forever but it was only a few seconds. And for the first time since she first grabbed it, she let go of my hand.

“Wait here. I’ll be right back” she said before walking away into one of the halls, looking back as she did so.

I wanted to follow her. I desperately wanted to follow her. But I played the good boy and waited. And waited. And waited.

She never came back.
