News: Lengthy The Dark Knight Rises Prologue To Be Shown Before Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol

A weird one this, but one for which we can all be thankful. Paramount’s Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol will come with a six minute preview/prologue of Warner Bros. The Dark Knight Rises on all IMAX prints. So, you know, if you were intending on seeing Ghost Protocol you’ve got a pretty good excuse to spend that extra penny seeing the IMAX version…

So, why would Paramount and Warner Bros. do this? Well, it’s mutually beneficial for both studios. Warners no longer have the Harry Potter winter cash-cow to attach their summer trailers to and Paramount must have a little worry about Tom Cruise and his ability to open a picture since he kinda went, you know, insane. The Dark Knight Rises is undoubtedly the biggest film of 2012, any chance to see the opening six minutes (like what happened with The Dark Knight before Will Smith’s awful I Am Legend) will bring the punters in especially to see it.

Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol opens in the UK on Boxing Day 26th December. The Dark Knight Rises opens on the 20th July 2012.
