News: Star Trek Sequel Delayed Until 2013

J.J. Abrams has confirmed that the next Star Trek will not be released until 2013. Shock! Horror! Okay, maybe not. The studio only announced the return of Abrams as director a couple of months ago, and filming is not due to begin until early 2012, so that Summer 2012 release was always going to be pushing it. Probably for the best too, because I would hate to be going up against The Amazing Spider-Man and The Dark Knight Rises. That said, a summertime 2013 release is hardly sweetness and light, with the likes of Man Of Steel, Iron Man 3, and Wolverine. A winter 2013 release puts alongside Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit and Thor 2. Paramount need to pick their spot carefully.
