Weekly Ricochet: The Avengers/Captain America, The Amazing Spider-Man, Skyfall, Only God Forgives, Moonrise Kingdom, Safety Not Guaranteed, Wonder Women! The Untold Story Of Superheroines…

Welcome to the Weekly Ricochet, the round-up of all the news that can’t quite get a page for itself. First up is the rather fantastic shot of Captain America (Chris Evans) above from The Avengers. Can you believe we get to see it in a little over two weeks? No, neither can I. That’s not all, though, as Marvel announced the follow-up to Captain America: The First Avenger will get its release on 4th April 2014. No director has yet signed on to helm the film, though speculation has it down to three potential candidates. Other rumours from the scriptwriters point to a modern-day setting for the new film, possibly taking place in the aftermath of the events from The Avengers. Still, there’s plenty of time for that to change yet.
Here’s the first promotional shot of The Amazing Spider-Man villain The Lizard. Looks almost exactly like the leaked concept art from last year.
Entertainment Tonight has an exclusive video from the set of Skyfall with interviews with Daniel Craig and Javier Bardem. It’s worth a watch if you have any interest in the new Bond movie.
Usually a pin-up for the ladies, Ryan Gosling is looking a little rough in the latest shot from Nicholas Winding Refn’s Only God Forgives. The last time these two teamed up we got the gem that is Drive, so you’ll have to forgive me for being a little excited about this one.
Here’s a neat pic of the cast from Wes Anderson’s Moonrise Kingdom.
This is the trailer for Safety Not Guaranteed, which you may remember I mentioned back in my picks from the Sundance Film Festival. For a film based on an internet meme it looks surprisingly good. I can’t wait to see it.
And to finish is another trailer, this time for documentary Wonder Women! The Untold Story Of Superheroines. Telling the story of Wonder Woman and how she changes through the war, the radical seventies, and riot grrls scene of the nineties. If you’re a comic book fan, you should see this. If you’re a feminist, you should see this. If you’re neither of these things, you should DEFINITELY see this.

  1. Safety Not Guaranteed looks fantastic, I’m really excited for that one.
