News: The Dark Knight Rises EW Scans And High Res Pics

A few days ago we posted the news that Batman and Catwoman from The Dark Knight Rises grace the cover of the latest Entertainment Weekly. Well, now the magazine is in the hands of the public, we’ve managed to get ahold of some scans of the pics within. Let’s have a look, shall we?

Here’s a shot of Christian Bale’s Bruce Wayne and Anne Hathaway’s Selina Kyle. You’ll remember this scene from the trailer where Ms Kyle whispers the warning “There’s a storm coming, Mr Wayne”.

Tom Hardy’s Bane, wearing a jacket we haven’t seen him in before, takes hostages in what I am assuming is Gotham’s stock exchange. In a recent interview with EW, Hardy explained the differences between Bane and Heath Ledger’s Joker in The Dark Knight  – “The Joker didn’t care-he just wanted to see the world burn, and he was a master of chaos and destruction, unscrupulous and crazy. Bane is not that guy. There’s a very meticulous and calculated way about Bane. There is a huge orchestration of organization to his ambition”. Makes sense as to why he’d hit a stock exchange.

Here’s Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s Gotham City cop John Blake. Looks like he’s ready for action.

Everybody has pointed out how it appears that Batman is holding an iPad. I’m not going to be any different. I bet the BatPad has BatApps you can download from the BatStore and everything.

Yeah, our first look at Morgan Freeman’s Lucius Fox in the new movie. Bruce is holding a copy of the Gotham Times. Is that Batman in the photo on the cover?

This is pretty awesome, if you ask me. We have Anne Hathaway in full Catwoman attire cracking a safe. Could it be Bruce Wayne’s? The fact that the safe is empty and Ms Kyle is looking at someone or something off-screen hints that she may have been discovered mid-heist.

That’s all the pics gleaned from the latest issue of EW, but now I have some brilliant high-resolution shots that I haven’t posted before on The Shootening.

This shot you’ll remember from the trailer. Bane looks down and says “When Gotham is ashes you have my permission to die”.

Here’s a very buff looking Bruce Wayne in the new Batcave with his Batsuit. Notice the shorter hair and how he doesn’t look as drawn in this shot. Whatever ails Wayne earlier in the film he seems to overcome it.

Another shot you’ll remember from the trailer. Batman wields a new weapon.

At the end of The Dark Knight Batman became the outlaw the police had to hunt. Look like he’s caught in the spotlight of one of GCPD’s helicopters. How will he make his escape? I love how fantastic the armour looks in this shot, though. Makes Bale appear genuinely super-heroic.

Director Christopher Nolan behind a fancy IMAX camera. Nolan blew us away with the epic scale of his shots in The Dark Knight, can he do it again with The Dark Knight Rises?

And finally, it’s what we all want to see more than anything this summer – Bane Vs. Batman. Who’ll win? Remember, it’s the last in the trilogy. All bets are off. (It’ll be Batman).

After a quiet period it feels like The Dark Knight Rises might finally kick up a gear, promotion-wise. I know I’ve said this before but please, Mr Nolan, can’t we have one more trailer? Just to crank the anticipation to fever-pitch.

The Dark Knight Rises hits UK screens on the 20th July.
