Weekly Ricochet: The Amazing Spider-Man, The Dark Knight Rises, Skyfall, Seven Psychopaths, Killing Them Softly, Gravity, I Know That Voice…

The Weekly Ricochet is a round up of all the news we want to tell you about but couldn’t justify giving an entire page.  First up, The Amazing Spider-Man director Marc Webb has opened a Twitter account to help market the new film, his first tweet being a link to the photo above. Yep, Peter Parker showing some good balance.

Webb’s next picture was this, which he entitled ‘A Reptile Dysfunction’. And while we’re talking of Spider-Man, Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, writers of Star Trek and Transformers, are doing a pass on The Amazing Spider-Man 2 script. I’m not sure if this is good news or not. Star Trek = good, Transformers = bad.

Total Film has a big feature on The Dark Knight Rises in this month edition of the magazine. This Bane (Tom Hardy) pic is an exclusive.

Sam Mendes has been filming Skyfall in Istanbul, 49 years to the day after Sean Connery shot From Russia With Love there too.

Martin McDonagh, director of the ace In Bruges, has a poster for his latest film Seven Psychopaths.

The very first clip from Andrew Dominik’s Killing Them Softly (previously Cogan’s Trade) has been released. Ray Liotta takes a bit of beating. It’s rather wonderfully shot, a lot like Dominik’s The Assassination Of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford.

Alfonso Cuaron’s Gravity, starring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney, and featuring seventeen minute long takes, has been delayed until 2o13. That’s a bit gutting. I was really looking forward to it and was hoping, along with Ridley Scott’s Prometheus, that it wouldn’t be the leading edge in a wave of new intelligent sci-fi films this year. Ah well, will just have to wait.

Drive‘s Nicholas Winding Refn is producing and may directed a prequel of Maniac Cop. The original films were silly schlock horror films, one starring the mighty Bruce Campbell. Could Refn bring his European sensibilities to the series?

And finally, here’s a trailer for a fantastic sounding (literally!) documentary called I Know That Voice. It delves deep into the mysterious world of voice acting. Brilliant.
