News: Liam Neeson Will Find Them And Kill Them Again In Taken 2 Trailer And Brief Featurette
Okay, I admit it. I was a little late to the Taken party. I finally got my stupid ass around to watching the action thriller a few weeks ago, and my God it did not disappoint. Liam Neeson is ex-CIA agent Bryan Mills. His young daughter Kim (Maggie Grace) ventures off on holiday overseas to France much against his will, and such is the way in these things, badness happens and his daughter is kidnapped. Mills, using his particular set of skills, brutally and efficiently tears his way through the Paris underworld in order to rescue her. It is fierce, violent, and fantastic. Anyway, luckily for me, Taken 2 is out soon and here’s the trailer.
It seems the action levels remain intact for the sequel as once again Mills viciously battles a gang of Albanian human traffickers out for revenge for the events in the original Taken. Going to Istanbul appears to be a big mistake for Bryan and his family (the kind you’d expect Mills not to make), but hey, at least we get another film out of it.
I’ve mentioned many many times now about how much I’m enjoying Liam Neeson’s turn to the action genre (see where he appears in my Top Ten Deadliest Characters). There’s something about him that lends itself perfectly to these kind of films, from his gruff but sensitive huntsman in The Grey, to his caring father/violent killer in Taken. He can’t do these films forever, but while he can I’m gonna enjoy them.
Taken 2 hits UK cinema screens from the 4th October. I’ll be there with bells on.
