News: First Official Shot Of Logan From The Wolverine

Posted in Movies, News with tags , , , , , , , , on September 25, 2012 by Bjorn Grainger

It’s okay to be interested in The Wolverine. It is. Yes, X-Men Origins: Wolverine was a crushing disappointment but doesn’t mean The Wolverine will be. Of course, we would have preferred it to have stayed in the hands of Darren Aronofsky, and to have kept Christoper McQuarrie’s much-praised pass on the script, but if only a tiny fraction of their influence remains (and hasn’t been excised by Fox Studios meddling execs), then director James Mangold should have a half-decent film on his hands. But that’s not why you’re here, you just want to see the first official pic, don’t you? Here we go then. Continue reading

Posted in Movies, News with tags , , , , , , , , , on September 18, 2012 by Bjorn Grainger

Godzilla. We knew it was coming after some very special test footage shown at San Diego Comic Con had the geek world salivating with the prospect of city-wide destruction at the hands of giant monsters. What we didn’t know was when we’d see this on the big screen. Well, wonder no more, dear reader. Wonder no more. Continue reading

News: Universal Pictures To Go Big With Franchises And Animation

Posted in Movies, News with tags , , , , , , , , , , on September 17, 2012 by Bjorn Grainger

It’s the one hundred year anniversary of Universal Pictures. If you’ve watched any of their films recently, it’s hard to escape the fact. The recent release of Jaws on Blu-Ray takes nearly sixteen years to begin for all the Universal promos banging on. Skip it? Yeah, you think you’re getting the movie and then they trick you with ANOTHER clip of a film you don’t want to see. I want the shark, not Robert Redford. I know, I’m being harsh, but don’t bug us with other films when we’ve paid good money for this one. Anyway, Universal Pictures CEO Steve Burke says they’re going to focus on “franchises and animation”. Continue reading

News: First Pics Of RoboCop From The Remake

Posted in Movies, News with tags , , , , , , , , on September 15, 2012 by Bjorn Grainger

Jose Padilha’s RoboCop has been beset by problems from the outset. The script leaked to an entitled fanboy who then proceeded to tear the film apart. There are rumours of unrest between Padilha and the execs, with Padhila having to fight for every scene he wants in the movie. Still, as Dredd as recently shown, these adversities can be overcome and decent movie made, so let’s not be a complete Debbie Downer on the whole situation, eh? Anyway, the first pics of the new Robo-suit have made their way onto the net. Wanna check them out? Continue reading

News: Theatrical Trailer For The Wachowskis Cloud Atlas

Posted in Movies, News with tags , , , , , on September 7, 2012 by Bjorn Grainger

A few weeks ago I showed you the epic six-minute long trailer for The Wachowskis and Tom Twyker’s Cloud Atlas. To say I was unimpressed would be an understatement. Still, a lot of you crazy kids seemed to like it in spite of the wanky “love is eternal, it survives through the ages” storyline, and the awful wigs and make-up worn by Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, and all, so here I am writing about it again. For you. And for you, I bring the latest trailer for the film. Continue reading

Posted in Movies, News with tags , , , , , , , on September 5, 2012 by Bjorn Grainger

If you’re regular reader of The Shootening you’ll know I have a great big man-crush on Liam Neeson. I shan’t go about it, suffice to say I think he awesome. That said, I find his introduction to this new Internet only Taken 2 trailer a little cringeworthy. Take a look. Continue reading

News: The Girl Who Played With Fire Will Not Be Out In 2013, Fincher May Still Direct

Posted in Movies, News with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , on August 29, 2012 by Bjorn Grainger

Sony’s version of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo didn’t exactly set cinema screens alight with its box office performance earlier in the year. It did enough, $232 million in global box office, to have people working on the follow-up The Girl Who Played With Fire (writer Steven Zallian is busy typing away) but Sony seem in no rush to get it made.

News: Fox Pass On Joe Carnahan’s Daredevil, Rights Head Back To Marvel

Posted in Movies, News with tags , , , , , , , , , on August 23, 2012 by Bjorn Grainger

Last time we talked about Daredevil Fox Studios were in talks with director Joe Carnahan. They wanted to get the film into production now in order to retain the rights to the character and not have them revert to Marvel. The Grey director produced some sizzle reels for his vision of The Man Without Fear, but Fox didn’t really like what they saw and decided to pass. With it now looking impossible to get the film into production by the October deadline, it seems Fox have given up and decided to let the rights go back to Marvel.

News: Some High Quality Pics From Brian De Palma’s Passion

Posted in Movies, News with tags , , , , , , on August 22, 2012 by Bjorn Grainger

I talked about Brian De Palma’s Passion a few months back. I said that my only interest in this was due to the involvement of Noomi Rapace. That pretty much still stands. I mean, when was the last time De Palma made a really watchable movie? Mission Impossible? Carlito’s Way? Still, it might all come good with Passion, it’s not as if the synopsis describes it as an erotic thriller… Oh. Anyway, let’s take a look at these high quality pics, shall we? They are super clickable. CLICK THEM.
