Sony’s version of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo didn’t exactly set cinema screens alight with its box office performance earlier in the year. It did enough, $232 million in global box office, to have people working on the follow-up The Girl Who Played With Fire (writer Steven Zallian is busy typing away) but Sony seem in no rush to get it made.

News: Fox Pass On Joe Carnahan’s Daredevil, Rights Head Back To Marvel

Posted in Movies, News with tags , , , , , , , , , on August 23, 2012 by Bjorn Grainger

Last time we talked about Daredevil Fox Studios were in talks with director Joe Carnahan. They wanted to get the film into production now in order to retain the rights to the character and not have them revert to Marvel. The Grey director produced some sizzle reels for his vision of The Man Without Fear, but Fox didn’t really like what they saw and decided to pass. With it now looking impossible to get the film into production by the October deadline, it seems Fox have given up and decided to let the rights go back to Marvel.

Posted in Movies, News with tags , , , , , , on August 22, 2012 by Bjorn Grainger

I talked about Brian De Palma’s Passion a few months back. I said that my only interest in this was due to the involvement of Noomi Rapace. That pretty much still stands. I mean, when was the last time De Palma made a really watchable movie? Mission Impossible? Carlito’s Way? Still, it might all come good with Passion, it’s not as if the synopsis describes it as an erotic thriller… Oh. Anyway, let’s take a look at these high quality pics, shall we? They are super clickable. CLICK THEM.

News: First Look At Russell Crowe In Darren Aronofsky’s Noah

Posted in Movies, News with tags , , , , , , , , , , on August 11, 2012 by Bjorn Grainger

Darren Aronofsky is one of my favourite directors. His work is usually bleak (Requiem For A Dream is CRUSHING) and populated by flawed and self-destructive characters, but I can’t get enough of it. He was attached to the Batman reboot before Warner Bros. settled on Christopher Nolan, and was even due to direct The Wolverine for Fox before having to drop out because of the long overseas shoot. I would have very much liked to have seen that. Anyway, that freed him up to make the long gestating project of Noah.

News: Daredevil To Be Directed By Joe Carnahan?

Posted in Movies, News with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , on August 6, 2012 by Bjorn Grainger

As we reported a couple of weeks ago, David Slade has dropped out of the Daredevil reboot for Fox Studios, which sent execs into overdrive searching for a willing victim to take up the difficult (ridiculous) task of getting the film into production by October. Why does it need to be in production by October? That’s when the rights revert back to Marvel and they can get their hands on a very recognisable Avenger. So, who is mad enough to take on this challenge?  Continue reading
