News: Massively Spoilerific New Prometheus Poster

Posted in Movies, Poster with tags , , , , , , , , on May 18, 2012 by Bjorn Grainger

This not the new Prometheus poster, by the way. This is the teaser poster from before Christmas when the marketing for the film was still going for the subtle and mysterious, not the “let’s show them EVERYTHING so there’s no drama or surprises left when they go to the cinema to see it” we’re getting now. Maybe, just maybe, we’re not being shown everything and Ridley Scott’s return to sci-fi will shock and surprise like his original Alien did. We live in hope.

The Avengers hype machine rolls on, this week delivering some cool posters of the individual members. I shall pepper them throughout the article as we deal with the infinitely more interesting news coming out of SXSW. Joss Whedon was in Austin, Texas this week along with director Drew Goddard promoting upcoming film The Cabin In The WoodsIt’s been getting great reviews but, of course, talk soon turned to Whedon’s The Avengers. News: New Poster For Wes Anderson’s Moonrise Kingdom

Posted in Movies, News, Poster, Thoughts with tags , , , , , , , , , , on March 9, 2012 by Bjorn Grainger

Wes Anderson’s films have always had distinctive posters. Rushmore and The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou stand out in particular. I absolutely love them and I feel the same about the new poster for Moonrise Kingdom. It has a fairytale sense of wonder coupled Anderson’s (un)usual charm. Here’s hoping that it perfectly represents the film.  Continue reading

News: The Avengers – New Trailer, New Poster, New Name?

Posted in Comics, Movies, News, Poster, Thoughts, Trailer with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on February 29, 2012 by Bjorn Grainger

Yep, it’s there on the brand new poster. Here in the UK Marvel’s The Avengers will be known as Avengers Assemble. As Marvel have failed to come out and say anything, most people are assuming this down to legal issues with The Avengers TV series starring John Steed and Emma Peel. It would be surprising if Marvel changed it to avoid confusion with the ’60s series because I don’t think many people would make that mistake. That said, some folk really did ask for refunds after seeing The Artist because it was a silent movie

That’s enough of that, though. That’s not why you’re here. You guys want to see the fantastic new Avengers trailer that we rumoured about last week, don’t you? Well, here it is! Continue reading

News: New Poster And Clip From Pixar’s Brave

Posted in Movies, News, Poster, Thoughts with tags , , , , , , , , , , , on February 23, 2012 by Bjorn Grainger

Cars aside, it’s an almost stone-cold guarantee that Pixar’s output will be of the utmost quality and the highest standard of storytelling. I have no doubt in my mind that Brave will carry on that fine tradition. The poster is intriguing (check out the big ol’ bear hiding behind the ‘R’), but if that doesn’t sell it to you, we have a brief clip down below. Have a look. Continue reading

News: Trailer For Wes Anderson’s Moonrise Kingdom

So, if you didn’t know, I spent the festive period with my parents. It was all well and good except for one fact – they’d turn off the precious wi-fi at the end of the day. This is was massively frustrating for me as I am addicted to the internet and need near constant 24 hour access or I freak out. I mean, c’mon, what if I miss something funny written of Facebook, or can’t get instantly outraged by the latest thing on Twitter? Exactly.

Anyway, to get myself through the long nights, my methadone was watching some DVDs. Of the many films I watched, two were Wes Anderson’s The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou and The Royal Tenenbaums. The Life Aquatic is the film that made me fall in love with Anderson’s films, such a brilliant mix of melancholy, wonder, and adventure. And when I watched Tenenbaums it had me in floods of tears from the get-go. I’d seen it before, but this time it crushed me. So heartbreakingly sad. It was amazing. By now I guess you’re wondering why the hell I’m telling you this. I’ll tell you why – it was a lengthy and meandering intro inform you of the release of the trailer to Wes Anderson’s (yeah, that guy again) latest movie Moonrise Kingdom. Shall we take a look? Ridley Scott is back in sci-fi mode with Prometheus, and as we know Scott and sci-fi makes for some freaking iconic movies. Will Prometheus reach those heights? Probably not, but we know it’ll look good. And speaking of looking good, check out the teaser poster.

That BIG GIANT HEAD features prominently once again, just like in the promotional shots released a few weeks agoContinue reading
