If you’re regular reader of The Shootening you’ll know I have a great big man-crush on Liam Neeson. I shan’t go about it, suffice to say I think he awesome. That said, I find his introduction to this new Internet only Taken 2 trailer a little cringeworthy. Take a look. Continue reading

News: Liam Neeson Will Find Them And Kill Them Again In Taken 2 Trailer And Brief Featurette

Posted in Movies, Trailer with tags , , , , , , on September 2, 2012 by Bjorn Grainger

Okay, I admit it. I was a little late to the Taken party. I finally got my stupid ass around to watching the action thriller a few weeks ago, and my God it did not disappoint. Liam Neeson is ex-CIA agent Bryan Mills. His young daughter Kim (Maggie Grace) ventures off on holiday overseas to France much against his will, and such is the way in these things, badness happens and his daughter is kidnapped. Mills, using his particular set of skills, brutally and efficiently tears his way through the Paris underworld in order to rescue her. It is fierce, violent, and fantastic. Anyway, luckily for me, Taken 2 is out soon and here’s the trailer. Continue reading

Feature: Top Ten Deadliest Movie Characters (Whom I Like)

I’ve been on a bit of an action movie bender lately. Among the more forgettable, throwaway titles, I watched The Expendables, the movie that brings together an entire generation of action movie stars, and Taken, where Liam Neeson plays and ex-CIA agent who’ll go through anybody and anything to rescue his kidnapped daughter. These two titles got me thinking – Exactly how many people have these walking holocausts killed altogether? Continue reading

The Dark Knight Rises is almost upon us. With little under a month to go, we still know surprisingly little about the plot of the film (which can only be a good thing), but the viral campaign is giving us a nice taster of what’s happened in Christopher Nolan’s Bat-universe since the events of The Dark Knight. Continue reading

Review: The Grey

Posted in Movie Review, Movies with tags , , , , , , , on June 1, 2012 by Bjorn Grainger

If you’d seen any of the marketing for The Grey, you’d be forgiven for thinking that the movie was just a dumb action flick where Liam Neeson tapes up his fists with broken glass and punches the shit out of some wolves. It’s certainly what I thought. But you’d be wrong. Director Joe Carnahan delivers a film that’s a hell of a lot more thoughtful and considered.

News: The Dark Knight Rises Flying Vehicle Named And Spoilers *WARNING*

So, last night I dreamt my friend, @BunchOfSteve, and I were invited to see the première of The Dark Knight Rises. No, true story. I’m not making this up for an interesting intro. I would never do that. Anyway, we were watching the film and it was AWFUL. I mean, George Lucas could have done better. Turned out Chris Nolan had made the film deliberately dreadful as part of an elaborate practical joke… and then I woke up. What’s this got to do with anything? Well, not a lot, but we may have a name for Batman’s new flying vehicle and some fairly big spoilers too. Continue reading

News: Second Trailer For The Grey

I got VERY excited about the teaser trailer to Joe Carnahan’s The Grey a few months back. I mean, it has Liam Neeson fighting wolves. Continue reading

News: Liam Neeson Punches Wolves With Glass-Covered Fists

You wouldn’t have thought it, would you? That Liam Neeson would become the go-to guy for bad-assery. He was meant to be a proper ac-tor, not some action icon destroying all that’s in his path. But hey, I for one am pleased. We get a hero who can emote and Liam gets star in films like The Grey.

So, it’s Alive with added wolves. Awesome. Continue reading
