News: Fox Pass On Joe Carnahan’s Daredevil, Rights Head Back To Marvel

Last time we talked about Daredevil Fox Studios were in talks with director Joe Carnahan. They wanted to get the film into production now in order to retain the rights to the character and not have them revert to Marvel. The Grey director produced some sizzle reels for his vision of The Man Without Fear, but Fox didn’t really like what they saw and decided to pass. With it now looking impossible to get the film into production by the October deadline, it seems Fox have given up and decided to let the rights go back to Marvel.

News: Joss Whedon Returns For The Avengers 2!

There’s some fantastic news for those of us who enjoyed The Avengers – Director Joss Whedon has signed up to write and direct the inevitable follow-up! News: Daredevil To Be Directed By Joe Carnahan?

As we reported a couple of weeks ago, David Slade has dropped out of the Daredevil reboot for Fox Studios, which sent execs into overdrive searching for a willing victim to take up the difficult (ridiculous) task of getting the film into production by October. Why does it need to be in production by October? That’s when the rights revert back to Marvel and they can get their hands on a very recognisable Avenger. News: Thor: The Dark World Closing In On Its Villain

We reported a few months back that Mads Mikkelsen, best known for playing Le Chiffre in Casino Royale, was being lined up to play the villain in Thor 2, now officially known as Thor: The Dark World. Mads had to drop out after committing himself to the Hannibal TV series. Thor isn’t the only superhero franchise to be affected by Hannibal either – David Slade had to drop out of making the new Daredevil feature for Fox Studios after agreeing to direct the pilot. News: Chronicle Director Josh Trank Directing Fantastic Four & David Slade Drops Off Daredevil Reboot

Finally, some news away from San Diego Comic Con – Josh Trank, director of the superhero found footage flick Chronicle, will head the reboot to The Fantastic Four for Fox Studios. After initially being circled by Sony for their Venom feature, Trank has signed up to to bring Marvel’s first family to the big screen and will be working with writer Jeremy Slater to re-invigorate the franchise. News: First Official Picture From Iron Man 3 Set

Review: The Avengers (Avengers Assemble)

The seed was sewn back in 2008 with Jon Favreau’s Iron Man. Samuel L. Jackson’s cameo appearance as Nick Fury at the end of the film. The Avenger Initiative, he said. The very mention sent a quiver of excitement down the spines of every comic book loving geek the world over. Would Marvel Studios really bring all their heroes (licensing willing) together in one movie? Could they? Four years and four films laying the groundwork (The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2, Thor, and Captain America: The First Avenger), and we arrive at the big moment – The Avengers. And my gosh, are we ready for it.
