Here we are, little more than ten years on from the first Spider-Man movie and the franchise has been rebooted. A new director, new stars, and the promise of an ‘untold story’. News: First Official Shot From Neill Blomkamp’s Elysium

Posted in Movies, News with tags , , , , , , , , , , on July 9, 2012 by Bjorn Grainger

I haven’t gotten around to watching Neill Blomkamp’s District 9 yet. I’ve heard good things but simply haven’t found the time. It’s something I must rectify forthwith. Anyway, Blomkamp has been busy at work on his follow-up project, Elysium, starring Matt Damon and Jodie Foster. After my hopes of a resurgence in intelligent sci-fi were dashed with Prometheushere’s hoping Elysium and Alfonso Cuarón’s Gravity can get the ball rolling next year, eh? Continue reading

Posted in Comics, Movies, News, Thoughts with tags , , , , , , , on April 3, 2012 by Bjorn Grainger

The Avengers is going big guns with its imminent release, but let’s not forget that there are a couple of other superhero movies this summer, not least The Amazing Spider-Man. Marc Webb’s 3D extravaganza has dropped a few brief clips of Peter Parker and his webslinging alter-ego and they are pretty bloody good. Check them out. Continue reading

I haven’t exactly been quiet about my lack of excitement for The Amazing Spider-Man. The trailer was alright, and the subsequent marketing has been lacklustre. Considering this film is going up against The Avengers, Prometheus, and The Dark Knight Rises in a packed summer window, it really needs to step up its game. Anyway, some new pics have been released. Let’s see if they tickle the parts they need to reach. Continue reading

The Amazing Spider-Man is shooting in New York right now! What’s that, I hear you say? The Amazing Spider-Man finished shooting ages ago and entered the long and arduous area of post-production where the CGI is created and added, then ruined by turning it all into 3D. Pshaw! Director Marc Webb clearly feels some reshoots are in order. Shall we have a look?

There he is – Peter Parker/Andrew Garfield… Continue reading

Feature: The Amazing Spider-Man

Since I set upon The Shootening’s new direction I’ve had little opportunity to talk about The Amazing Spider-Man. Has there been a dearth of news? The Dark Knight Rises and The Avengers seem to be making all the noise, just as the new Spidey entered post-production. Or has it been my own bias towards the film? I’ll be the first to say I love Sam Raimi’s movies (Well, Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2, the less said about 3 the better) and the thought of a reboot barely ten years after the first film did rankle somewhat. But, hey, it’s here, it’s happening, and it’s up to me to deal with it. So let’s have a look, shall we?

It’s a hell of a cast director Marc Webb has assembled for The Amazing Spider-Man Continue reading
